As casting begins in New York, we catch up with model of the moment, Helena Severin
With her wide eyes, blunt fringe and alabaster complexion, Helena Severin is currently one of fashion’s most striking faces. She was scouted in Berlin at the tender age of thirteen, before being approached again last year in her hometown of Vienna. Fast forward a year, and she has made a bold impression: she opened the Christopher Kane show and closed Miu Miu last season, as well as walking for Louis Vuitton, Céline and Saint Laurent. She currently features in the Dior A/W14 campaign photographed by Willy Vanderperre, who also shot her for the new A/W14 issue of AnOther Magazine. Styled by Olivier Rizzo, Helena wears Prada and Chanel mixed with vintage Australian sportswear, shot on the outskirts of Antwerp. With New York fashion week starting this week, we caught up with Severin to discuss her first season in the city, along with her favourite pastimes.
Helena Severin on... New York
New York seems very quick, and everything happens so fast. I would say the most important thing when you visit New York is to just take your time. Walk around the city and get to know all of the different parts. There are some really beautiful places here. I really like the West Village, it’s very cosy. It is my first time here professionally and it feels very different, because when you go to London, Milan and Paris, everything has started already. New York is more relaxed, although I am sure by the last couple of days it will get really intense. I'm really looking forward to seeing Prabal Gurang, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang.

Helena Severin on... films
The last good film I watched was Fading Gigolo. I would recommend it, it’s a very good movie. I really like documentaries, Tarantino movies — all of the classics. It always depends on what mood you are in, but I would say definitely Kill Bill is my favourite film, both parts. Other movies I would recommend: Pulp Fiction because it's a classic, Amour by Michael Haneke and Funny Games also by Michael Haneke. It is one of the best thrillers I have ever seen.
Helena Severin on... music
At the moment I’m listening to an Austrian artist called Trishes. It is hip hop/R&B music which is really nice for fashion week and it’s kind of relaxing but at the same time, it doesn’t make me feel too sleepy. One of my favourite fashion show songs was the Depeche Mode remix from the Miu Miu show last season. That is really good and I still listen to it on my iPod.
