Considering the model coding at Bottega Veneta
TextAnOther
An important piece of fashion know-how: a model who opens a show sets the tone of a collection. And the model that closes the show, summarises that season's ideas and mood. This season, Bottega Veneta's Thomas Maier closed with Saskia De Brauw – a model who we would refer to as the "woman's woman". Right before her, came Malgosia Bela, the Saskia of the previous generation.
Interesting model coding at work here. Especially following Gemma Ward's return to the spotlight, opening the Prada show on Friday. Perhaps soon, we will all be using the models and their show positionings as we do the inspiration, to decode the meaning of a collection?
