As Maison Martin Margiela reveals six new pieces for their Héritage Collection, we take an exclusive look at the reinvented jewellery line
Maison Martin Margiela’s new A/W14 Héritage line breaks down traditional wedding heirlooms, reinventing each piece in signature house style. Ancestry and nostalgia are given Margiela’s avant garde twist of nonconformity, including a deconstructed play on the traditional engagement ring, alongside a split bracelet in white and black diamonds. "An incomplete circle," Margiela says of the split ring. "A moment suspended in time between a first meeting and marriage. Unsoldered and free."
The six new unisex pieces are a variation on Margiela’s original Alliance line, released in January after a three year jewellery hiatus. The collection has a distinct air of ambiguity, reminiscent of the notoriously mysterious fashion house, led by the idea of rewriting traditional sentiments. It has been numbered 12 in Margiela’s numerical production order (womenswear is 1, fragrance is 2, eyewear is 8). Here AnOther explore the collection through Margiela’s poetic narrative, detailing love lost and found.
The Héritage line by Maison Martin Margiela is currently on sale, with six new pieces available from December
