Husband and wife Simon Bolzoni and Katie Walsh live in Whitechapel, London. Born in Canada to an Irish architect mother and a German artist father, 29-year-old Walsh set up her own label in 2006 with her best friend from Kingston University, Fiamma Poltock, and aptly named it Poltock & Walsh. Heralded by the likes of Kate Moss and Vogue, fashion designer Walsh is launching her new luxury womenswear label, WALSH, this November. Contrastingly, London born 30-year-old Bolzani was a model for five years and worked as a trained last-maker, crafting bespoke shoes for a prestigious St. James shoemaker. After setting up the notorious Faction club night in Dalston in 2007 he is now frequently asked to DJ, most recently for The Last Magazine Party in New York Fashion Week and Pool Disco in Shoreditch House. Bolzoni also runs his own company, alongside his friend James Penfold. Confusingly described as a “Multi Dimensional People Experiment” they have recently opened a gallery space in Clerkenwell called Trypolar. Ambiguous about what he does, he is inspired by “things he doesn’t understand.” However, when it comes to describing what is most beautiful to him he clearly answers his wife and daughter. Here the couple speak about love, life and death.
