We take a look at Fendi's new QuTweet range in all of its colourful, furry, fuzzy glory
Who? Fendi has created its own game of Angry Birds in time for Christmas with their new flock of bug-bags. Geometric stripes, birds, flowers and expressive monster-faces decorate the classic Peekaboo, 2Jours, Demi Jours and iconic Baguette styles, complete with fuzzy fur keyrings. The QuTweet capsule collection (Get it? Cute-Tweet) was inspired by the vibrant wings of tropical birds, alongside signature origami folds.
“I was in Brazil and saw amazing tropical birds with beautifully coloured feathers” — Silvia Venturini Fendi
What? Fendi has long held a love affair with the whimsical furry creature. Silvia Venturini Fendi warmed the fashion industry’s hearts in 2013 when she brought her accessories to life by emblazoning furry owl faces on her bags for A/W13, alongside BagBug charms. “I was in Brazil and saw amazing tropical birds with beautifully coloured feathers,” she told AnOther Magazine. “We call the creatures in the collection BagBugs and they are so fun.” The wide-eyed, wild-haired pom-pom bugs have since become fashion’s most accredited guest - they were ubiquitous throughout fashion week, recongisable by their menacing brows and paneled noses.
Why? Fendi’s little monsters are an easy reminder of the Italian fashion house’s instinct sense of humour. Karl Lagerfeld joined the house in 1965 and created its iconic FF stamp - an abbreviation for Fun Furs - and it is an adjective they have never lost, with colour and playful wit imbued in each collection. While they consistently wow with technicalities, the accessories are what really represent the brand's DNA – Fendi’s irreverent wink, sometimes quite literally stitched onto each design.
The QuTweet range by Fendi is available now.
