It's the banal rendered brilliant that has swept the Loves board this week, in the form of a stunning sink
The sink gets a bad rep. And fair enough – it’s a hotbed for limescale, is generally filled with washing up or toothpaste scum and acts as a byword for redundant 50s housewife standards. But amid a rough populated by the grey and banal, AnOther’s Lovers have discovered a diamond, in the form of this exquisite marble and porcelain sink Loved by AnOthermag.com editor Laura Bradley. Suddenly the early morning dash to the bathroom to brush ones teeth has never been so appealing.
The bathroom is a mysterious place. It is the one truly essential room in the house. It is where we go to perform those basic human acts we like to pretend don’t really happen and also where we take refuge to indulge and relax. Guests are guaranteed to visit and will judge you on the reading matter and the thread count of your towels. It’s basically a really confusing place. But do not fear, AnOther Loves have innumerable ideas for how to take your bathroom to the next level – from champagne bubble bath and marble detailing to Saul Steinberg graffiti, let us guide you to the creation of a truly extraordinary washing space. But first and foremost, get this stunning sink.
So while we call the plumber, here Bradley expounds on a current obsession with marble and her dream cinematic bathroom.
Why did you love this sink?
I have a mild obsession with marble at the moment. It seems most of the creative industry on fashion does too – it's a perfect backdrop for food and fashion stuffs. This sink – combining marble and porcelain – felt like the next step.
Where would you install it if you owned it?
In my fantasy bathroom. A bathroom that's big enough for a roll top bath and armchair, of course.
What would you accessorise it with?
Reverence aromatique hand wash by Aesop – a brilliant exfoliant and also looks very smart on the sink. And a mirrored tray to keep my jewellery safe.
What is your bathroom routine?
A luxurious soak reading the weekend papers or listening to a brilliant podcast is my fantasy. A quick shower and quick make-up session in front of the mirror is the reality.
What inspires your interior decoration at home?
I tend to get obsessed with materials or objects – for instance, marble, or amber glass. At the moment it's a vintage drinks trolley. I've also learnt a lot from my boyfriend. He comes from a family with brilliant interiors expertise. If it wasn't for him, my home would be full of cat ornaments.
Which film or literary set would you like to adopt as your own?
I want the bathtub mirror from The Dreamers.
What are you looking forward to about February?
A brand new anothermag.com. So exciting!
What was the last thing you bought?
New Nikes and 10 sessions at Barber's Gym.
