"I was thinking about California, Bret Easton Ellis and postmodern LA colour schemes." Patrik Ervell
Bret Easton Ellis was a self proclaimed satirist whose novels focused around the rich, the sexually overt and the mentally off-key (most notably American Psycho). He conjured up imagery of fabulous people whose lives knew no restrictions, and for whom everything and everyone was a playground full of temptation. The apotheosis of this decadence is California, a place that is, in the words of Christopher Isherwood, “a tragic country – like Palestine, like every promised land.” The postmodern muted colour palette shown in dusty pinks, mint green and dove-grey shows a sophistication, but will always allow the wearer to retain his unequivocal charm. The New York menswear designer Patrik Ervell is bringing LA to New York, which will only enhance his current casual-chic approach.
