Sheer was the running theme of day two at London fashion week with Charles Anastase and Craig Lawrence both re-interpreting it in their own way: Charles Anastase brought a romantic and summery feel down his S/S11 runway in the form of floaty, feminine and French inspired skirts, dresses and playsuits (Jane Birkin and Charlotte Gainsbourg were his muses). Fine knits of Japanese metallic yarns with thin panels created a sexy see-through element to the floor length gowns that dressed the towering models at the Craig Lawrence presentation. A more sophisticated approach to his previous collections the statuesque silhouettes were sinisterly seductive – citing the dangerous allure of mermaids as his inspiration.
