Art Director Jerry Stafford speaks about what influenced him in our third behind-the-scenes look at KM3D-1. His interest in the "ceremonial and ritual aspects" from his recent travels in India, the "shamanistic works" by Kenneth Anger and the "original special effects" of Ray Harryhausen, formed the starting point to the creative direction. Evolving these ideas with Baillie Walsh, whom he has worked with several times over the past 15 years, they chose to "channel the Lady from Shanghai, the Orson Welles film, which the set recalls in its fragmented mirrors." With initial mythological references harping back to the first forms of storytelling, Jerry exclaims his excitement at the use of technology "to create the most incredible environments and universes in order to tell the same stories but in a different way."
