Gianfranco Ferré's S/S11 collection was mainly a dress affair: Leg-baring and luxurious, the colour palette was minimal in white, black and nude with a highlight of pink. Attention to detail came in the artisanal weaving and macramé techniques. Waists were accentuated with both delicate and wide block belts, with revealing cut-outs creating a sexy glimpse of skin. Similar motifs were employed in the Versace show that followed, combined with bolder and more summery colours – bright blue, reds and orange – in solid and geometric, graphic stripes.
