On day four of Milan fashion week Raf Simon’s S/S11 collection for Jil Sander received plenty of attention and critical acclaim. Dressing his models in voluminous skirts, dresses and trousers, which came in stand-out pink, orange, green and yellow neons, the dramatic oversizing was paired back with casual tees, tanks and raincoats. Complimented by a matt neon lipstick and bright bug-eyed sunglasses the Jil Sander collection made a colourful statement whilst remaining chic and sophisticated. Bottega Veneta had a contrastingly restricted neutral palette with shapes floating relaxed, loose and casual down the catwalk. There was a great mix of fabrics and finishes, ranging from silks to leathers, fringing to feathers, for an overall more sporty, understated and laid-back elegance.
