Yves Saint Laurent’s grand catwalk location – a Rothschild hôtel particulier on Rue Berryer – set the mood for Stefano Pilati’s S/S11 collection, which also paid homage to the mood of the late designer. With glamorous long dresses, trench coats and hints of Le Smoking a sexy twist came in the form of thigh-high skirt slits, plunging necklines and glimpses of midriff. Over at a more understated Chloé ballerinas were the reference point of note. Models walked down the catwalk in ballet pumps, tied bows (front and back) and long pleated skirts – all in natural colours of white, peach, cinnamon and beige with the occasional punch of black and red.
