Editor of cult-favourite blog A Shaded View of Fashion and Director of A Shaded View of Fashion Film, the Paris-based legendary fashion icon Diane Pernet is our Guest Lover. Founding ASVOFF in September 2008 – the first annual international film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty – Pernet recently celebrated its 3rd edition. Supporting both emerging and more established talent – Steven Klein, Nick Knight and Chris Cunningham have all shown films at her festival – Pernet continues to make her mark in fashion some three decades after she first worked as a top fashion designer in New York and fashion journalist and editor for Vogue, Elle and Joyce magazines. For her favourite thing Pernet chose a silver necklace and bracelet two-piece from fine jewelers Graham Tabor and Miguel Villalobos of 1-100. With her signature style – elegant mantilla up do and all-black shades – Pernet cuts a sophisticated silhouette amongst the fashionista crowd and she chose some equally eye-catching, statement pieces for AnOther.
Why did you choose this necklace and bracelet?
I love the body of work created by Graham Tabor and Miguel Villalobos. They are both multi-disciplinarians. The necklace and bracelet for 1-100 (production is limited to 100 for any of the items hence the name) are both modern/ancient, streamlined and a little savage. Every piece is handmade and magically captures a bit of the love given to the wearer by its creators.
How did you come across them?
I have an interest in everything Graham and Miguel create. I knew about the collection as a work in progress.
When do you wear them and what are they best worn with?
For me, they are always appropriate and always worn with black. For someone else a bare chest could be the perfect setting.
