Wunderbuzz is a site founded by Danish blogger Signe Kassow which explores quirky images, unusual collaborations and intriguing creations. Since its launch in 2008, it has now grown to incorporate interviews, profiles, exhibitions and points of interest though a network of like-minded contributors and writers. Vintage photographs are a favorite of Kassow’s, with the female form being repeatedly celebrated throughout the site, in glamourous and often provocative poses. These run alongside her selections of exciting up-and-coming photography and obscure, recently discovered musicians…

Why did you decide to start a blog?
I wanted to create a place to share my daily inspirations and hopefully to inspire someone else out there. I didn't plan it, I just heard about the platform Wordpress and I decided to try it out. Wunderbuzz has developed a lot since I wrote my first blogpost, and I think this is the best way to do it if you want to create a blog. Suddenly you'll see a pattern of the type of things you write most about and your 'blogstyle'.

Was there a specific idea as to what the aesthetic of the blog would be?
At first I just used a basic theme from Wordpress, and changed that a bit. Then I created a whole new theme with help from a friend who is a graphic designer. I didn't have a special idea from the beginning, but then as I got a clearer idea of what I wanted Wunderbuzz to be, I created a site that had that feminine feeling about it.

Wunderbuzz celebrates unusual and inspirational images. What has been your favorite post?
I have a lot of favorite posts because I have a lot of favorite photos! My favorite blogpost style is when I mix different photos and create a sense of feeling with them. For example this post. I also have a thing for the female body, so I love posts of beautiful women like this one. Last, but not least, I like themed posts like this one about tea.

Is there anything in particular you look for in a potential blog post?
Yes, definitely, the post has to have the 'Wunder feel' about it. It's difficult to describe in words because it's much more a visual thing, but if I had to use some keywords it would be feminine, quirky, sexy and classy.

What makes it different to other blogs?
That it's curated by me. Every good blog has something unique because there's a different person behind it to decide which blogposts to post. Wunderbuzz is definitely unique in both the design and content, and this is really important to me. Besides that, I haven't seen a blog with the same atmosphere as Wunderbuzz, and I think this is a combination of how I find photos and mix them together.

How important do you think blogs are and how important is yours to you?
I think blogs are very important as a new media, and I think many blogs have gained a lot of power today. I don't think blogs will take over the world, and I think we've reached that point where everyone wants to start a blog. There's a lot of useless blogs out there, so I think we'll see a downfall for many blogs and a rise for the good blogs. I think Wunderbuzz is important because I have a special readership with it — it's not mainstream and the reader is a specific type.

Has your blog led to you taking part in any additional opportunities or any interesting collaborations?
Yes many! I've been invited to Copenhagen and London Fashion Weeks and I've interviewed a lot of interesting people. I've worked with lots of contributing writers and photographers. But mostly Wunderbuzz has become my online portfolio in a way, and this is a great way for me to show my editing and curating skills to people I want to work with.

Do you think you’ll always keep a blog?
Yes I think so. Sometimes I'm flabbergasted of how many amazing, wonderful creations are out there - contemporary but also from the past - so it's hard to imagine not having anything to write about. I also think that Wunderbuzz will develop into being more than a blog one day, so I have many ambitions for the future.
