Jason Wu: "The collection is inspired by the beautiful photographs taken by Robert Polidori. The contrast between the raw building materials and the grandeur of the Versailles was especially interesting."
The Palace of Versailles was home to the royal court and the social scene for over a century from 1682, including government officials, couturiers and Louis XIV. Louis moved there from the centre of Paris to what was originally a hunting lodge – under his guidance, it became one of the largest palaces in the world. The palace is now going through a twenty-five year restoration period, which is represented in Parcours Muséologique Revisité. Polidori's photographs show holes in the walls, bare floors and scaffolding, a direct to the contrast of the grandeur that once was.
