Alexandre Herchcovitch shied away from his signature vibrant prints and vivid hues for a more subdued palette – save a small burst of neon yellow – for A/W11. A well received collection on day 7 of New York Fashion Week, Herchcovitch was inspired by his geological explorations into volcanoes, ash and magma which were referenced in many of the garment’s overlaying of fabrics. Touches of lace and delicate beading made way for an interesting, intricate and more romantic feel. It seemed the attention was definitely in the detailing as over at 3.1 Phillip Lim garments were beautifully cut and contoured with an unusual blend of fabrics: mixing silk with leather for the day and bronze beads for night and sheer chiffon with liquid patent. Trousers were also oh slightly cropped allowing wearers to pedal push with ease – Lim’s key reference for the season was girls on bikes.
