As well as 10 spectacular designer birthday cakes, AnOther Magazine's 10th anniversary was marked with a celebratory dinner and party last night. Jefferson Hack and Jay Jopling hosted an intimate dinner at Jopling's beautiful home, followed by a glamourous party at the newly-opened Soho club, The Box, hosted by Kate Moss and Tilda Swinton and supported by Swarovski.
The evening brought together personalities from the world's of fashion, art and film, many of whom have shaped or starred in the luxury bi-annual over the years. Past cover stars including Kate Moss, Tilda Swinton, Kirsten Dunst, and fabulous guests including Samantha Morton, Ronnie Wood, Sir Peter Blake, Daphne Guinness, Bobby Gillespie, Jarvis Cocker, Juergen Teller & Sadie Coles, Mike Figgis, Stella McCartney, Sir Norman Rosenthal, Bella Freud & James Fox, Mark Ronson & Josephine de la Baume, Phoebe Philo & Max Wigram, Alison Mosshart, Elizabeth Saltzman, Geordie Greig, Evgeny Lebedev, Hussein Chalayan, Gareth Pugh and Juliette Lewis, and artists Damien Hirst, Christian Marclay, Dinos Chapman, Marc Quinn, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Polly Morgan and Mat Collishaw (to name but a few!) enjoyed three-course dinner from a menu created specially by The Last Supper. The crowd then relocated to The Box in Soho, which opened earlier this month having been transformed by Simon Hammerstein's Vauduville vision. The sister of his New York club is the former site of Paul Raymond's Revue Bar, the first lap-dancing club in London. The Box proved to be the perfect location for AnOther's anniversary party – split over two levels with a decadent bar (serving delicious Belvedere Honey Ryder cocktails) and performance space, which played host to a range of theatrical acts, all wearing MAC cosmetics. As guests departed they were gifted Persol sunglasses.
The evening's events were perfectly in keeping with the current celebratory issue of AnOther Magazine, which is rich in party-themed content. As well as Jefferson Hack's imagined ultimate party conversation and an interview with The Box's Simon Hammerstein, the issue's Document section delves into parties through the ages. Truman Capote's Black & White Ball guestlist, almost competing in fabulousness with AnOther's, is revealed in full, as well as real-life accounts and fictional tales on 19th century Venetian balls, 60s rock and roll hotels and Studio 54, all interspersed with literary-inspired cocktails and David James's bacchanalian drawings.
