Lucia Pica reveals the luscious visual inspirations behind her first cosmetic collection for the house
"Red is the colour of life, of blood, I love red," proclaimed Coco Chanel, a woman whose proclamations hold more weight than most. Similarly, Lucia Pica – the Global Creative, Make-up and Colour Designer for Chanel, is equally besotted: "I'm obsessed with the colour red, I always have been," she says. "It is a colour that has both a sense of the real and the radical about it." So it makes perfect sense that her first cosmetic collection for the house is themed around this hue – and, titled Le Rouge Collection N°1, it consists of a covetable selection of lipsticks, eyeshadows, nail polishes, et al, each in a luscious, deep shade of the colour. The launch of the range makes today a particularly happy Monday – but even more cheering is the selection of imagery that Pica has curated to represent her inspirations, from fallen cherry blossoms to dreamlike plumes of red smoke, collaged peonies to perfectly-positioned calla lilies. #AnOtherHappyMonday, indeed.
