Valentine’s Day may be a long distant memory – for some a memory they wish to cherish and others to forget. However with AnOther’s Senior Fashion Editor Sofia de Romarte it appears love is still very much on the mind – and everyone else’s for that matter – as the top voted for AnOther Love of the week is Sofia’s Love nest. A romantic retreat situated at the top of two trees, it is the getaway gift anyone would wish to receive. When it comes to famous and infamous romantic gestures in history there really have been some really incredible and interesting ones: The Taj Mahal was created for emperor Shah Jahan’s wife, who died whilst giving birth to their 14th child in 1631. It took 20, 000 work men and 22 years to build and is made out of marble and jewels. Renowned actor Richard Burton famously gave Elizabeth Taylor a 69.42-carat diamond. After being outbid at auction by tycoon Robert Kenmore who paid over a million dollars for it, managed to chase after Kenmore and buy it off him for an undisclosed sum. The ‘Taylor-Burton’ diamond, as its called, was later sold on after they split by Taylor in 1979 for a massive $5 million. In contrast architect and inventor John Hammes created the first garbage disposal in 1927 called the InSinkErator for his wife as a birthday gift.
Here we speak to Sofia about romantic stories, places and gifts.

It’s perched on top of two chestnut trees in Chino, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Why did you choose to Love it?
The house is called Takasugi-an Which literally means "a teahouse (built) too high". It's a romantic story of an architect who built himself the ultimate private place to have tea, accessible only by a free-standing ladder.
Who would you take to this Love nest?
My family, we'd hunker down for the winter.
Where is the most romantic place you’ve been?
The Scottish Highlands.
What is your dream purchase?
A house in the woods but closer to the ground as between you and me (not wishing to spoil the romance) I'm scared of heights!

A pair of butterflies from The Last Tuesday Society – it's my Valentines tradition.
What is your favourite online shop?
Resurrection NYC.
