The contents of a handbag belie an alarming amount about its wearer. Here, AnOther Magazine Fashion Editor Nell Kalonji tips out her MCM Milla Tote

Almost nothing is quite so appealing as a small, powder pink handbag: compact in size, cute in colour. "I tend to turn bigger bags into Mary Poppins-style sacks, filled with all these things that I think I might really need," explains Nell Kalonji, "but when I carry a smaller one, I am far more decisive." Thus, the objects contained within her supple leather Mini MCM Milla Tote  are those she truly adores: for example, Le Labo's Santal 33 perfume, chosen for inclusion because "it's so good that once a woman followed me for ten minutes before asking me what I was wearing."

Equally covetable: the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm (with its colour coordinated packaging), because "my grandmother always used to tell me 'look after your hands: people will look after their faces, spending money on products or plastic surgery to stay looking young, but they always forget their hands. They're the real mirror of a person's age.'" Next, out of sheer necessity, Rodin by Recine Luxury Hair Oil: "have you seen my hair? It has a life of its own. I need support!" The only item missing here? Caudalie's Beauty Elixir Face Mist. That'll be picked up in Paris – by which point, everyone will be craving anything that promises even a semblance of refreshment.
