From Dazed & Confused senior fashion editor Katie Shillingford and Alex Dromgoole’s wedding to the one-year anniversary of legendary photographer Corinne Day’s death, 2011 has seen us celebrate leading creatives from the worlds of art, fashion, photography, film, television and music. We have covered breaking news stories: photo-documenting the London riots from the frontline, and run exclusive content: presenting the video to PJ Harvey’s single On Battleship Hill as well as speaking to Björk about David Attenborough, one of the biggest influences behind her Biophilia project. Here we reflect on 2011’s Current highlights…

1) Dazed & Confused senior fashion editor Katie Shillingford exclusively invited us to share one of the most important days of her life: her wedding to Alex Dromgoole. Taking place in the 1930s Art Deco decadence of Eltham Palace, Greenwich, the bride was strikingly dressed in an especially made Gareth Pugh pale grey slashed chiffon dress and veil created by Stephen Jones.

2) As August 27 2011 marked the one-year anniversary of Corinne Days death, we paid tribute to the legendary image-maker in the article: In Memoriam Corinne Day. Here we exclusively previewed a selection of unpublished photos from the book Heaven is Real by Mörel Books; images from the exhibition Corinne Day, The Face at Gimpel Fils gallery; and stills from the Whitechapel Gallery screening of the documentary Corinne Day: Diary 2002, which all took place in September.

3) Most Loved post of the week on AnOther Loves, Salvador Dalí for Playboy Magazine, 1973 chosen by picture editor Raven Smith, allowed us to reflect on the iconic publication and this notable collaboration with the master of Surrealism. The bizarre composition featured the shot of the shot of a nude leaning against a giant egg, coiled in snakes juxtaposed with cut-up Renaissance imagery.

4) Yet another Most Loved post of the week, Iconic Eyebrows chosen by journalist Laura Havlin illustrates the arches of some of the world’s most famous women – from the minuteness of Marlene Dietrich’s to the thick curve of Sophia Loren’s – through an accurately handdrawn chart.

5) Before the launch of her much anticipated Biophilia album and collection of iPad apps – that allow listeners to remake the tracks, exploring different ways of making music through various aspects of the natural world – acclaimed songstress Björk spoke to AnOther about one of her biggest influences: David Attenborough and nature documentaries.

6) Reporting from the frontline of the London riots we captured the devastating violence that shook the capital through a series of exclusive grainy stills shot by Hackney-based photographer Mark Leon and stylist Ruben Moreira.

7) AnOther spoke to actor Vincent Cassel after the screening of his latest film, the directorial feature debut of Romain Gavras: Our Day Will Come, about playing extreme characters.

8) We consider the late, beautiful, Anglo-Indian actor Vivien Leigh and her longstanding camaraderie with cats.

9) Featured on the Reader section of our site – a daily edit of our favourite blogs – we spoke to founder of the This or That? tumblr Melanie Crete. The concept: a regular, two-image post which relates to one theme. This, or That, the choice is yours.

10) We exclusively presented the video to PJ Harvey’s latest single On Battleship Hill taken from her album Let England Shake and spoke to its creator, renowned war photographer Seamus Murphy, about his initial intentions and inspirations behind this intriguing musical collaboration.
