Juergen Teller's Curated Shelf at Louis Vuitton New Bond Str

Following in the footsteps of Marc Quinn, Haim Steinbach, John Stezaker, Tracey Emin, Cindy Sherman, Grayson Perry and Yayoi Kusama, man of the moment Juergen Teller is the latest artist to curate his own bookshelf at Louis Vuitton's New Bond Street

Who? Following in the footsteps of Marc Quinn, Haim Steinbach, John Stezaker, Tracey Emin, Cindy Sherman, Grayson Perry and Yayoi Kusama, man of the moment Juergen Teller is the latest artist to curate his own bookshelf at Louis Vuitton's New Bond Street Maison. The celebrated German photographer is currently basking in the success of his Woo! exhibition at the ICA which has had record visitors so far.

What? You can tell a lot by a person by the books on their bookshelf. Imagine having a rummage through the shelves of a creative you really admire. Louis Vuitton's Curated Shelf encourages artists to bring together their own books, alongside those they enjoyed during childhood and ones that have informed their artistic practice. The books, many of them out of print, are available to buy.

Why? Here, AnOther considers some of the titles and DVDs Teller has selected...

Visible world by Fischli & Weiss
Seeking the "ideal picture," Fischli & Weiss have taken beautiful photographs of the varied landscapes they have travelled through over the past 15 years, capturing multiple images of cities, towns, and country rounds, cactus, Egyptian pyramids, and Buddhist temples – each from a slightly different angle.

Atlas by Gerhard Richter
Conceived and closely edited by Gerhard Richter himself, Atlas cuts straight to the heart of the artist's thinking, collecting more than 5,000 photographs, drawings and sketches that he has compiled or created since the moment of his creative breakthrough in 1962. Year by year, the images closely parallel the subjects of Richter's paintings, revealing the orderly but open-ended analysis that has been so central to his art.

Dictionary of Water by Roni Horn
What do you see when you look at water? American artist Roni Horn suggests 95 answers, 95 directions, 95 possibilities. Here is water as it continuously reshapes itself. Here is a dictionary because water is the ultimate lexicon, because Horn's work is always about completeness. This incredible collection of digitally manipulated photographic images are from Horn's long-term project documenting the River Thames. With this project, she has now completed her study of the river, and this luxurious volume is a perfect final statement of the work.

Import/Export (DVD) by Ulrich Seidl
A tour de force journey through modern-day Europe, Import Export tells two parallel stories: Olga (Ekateryna Rak) who leaves behind her mother and young child in the Ukraine to seek out a better life in Vienna; and a headstrong young security guard (Paul Hofmann) who leaves Vienna to accompany his stepfather on a trip delivering gumball machines in Eastern Europe. Hailed by critics as a startling and bold film, it is without doubt recent European cinema's most provocative and audacious investigation of the post-Soviet universe and the new relations between East and West.
