AnOther Magazine’s S/S20 cover star Lily James shares her most-loved things – from her top beauty products, to her ideal ways to while away the hours

Lily James is much more than an English rose. The actor, most famous for a litany of leading roles in period dramas, straddles generational appeal: she is as at ease as a teen pin-up as she is playing a beribboned, bonnet-clad aristocrat, a mobster’s love interest or Cinderella. Her forthcoming turn as the second Mrs de Winter in Ben Wheatley’s remake of Daphne du Maurier’s gothic tale Rebecca promises more accolades – adding to those from directors including Danny Boyle and Edgar Wright. Here, the AnOther Magazine cover star and Burberry Beauty ambassador shares her favourite things.

1. Omorovicza

“I love ALL their products... they feel and smell delicious and leave my skin glowing. The Queen of Hungary Mist is my daily obsession.”

2. Jean Rhys

“She is one of my favourite authors – I can get completely lost in her... The first book I read of hers was Good Morning Midnight. Read it now if you haven’t.”

3. MUBI

MUBI is a streaming site with an incredible hand-curated selection of films. It’s always enlightening and saves my endless indecisiveness. [The riveting Autumn Sonata (pictured below) joins MUBI’s ongoing Ingmar Bergman season next month.]”

4. The South Downs

“I just recently walked along along the Seven Sisters cliffs – a nine-and-a-half-mile pilgrimage – and it was heaven. I love being in the English countryside: London felt so alien to me when I got back.”

5. Burberry lip collections

“I’ve always got a handful of these lipsticks and glosses in my bag – all in varying shades and textures. They’re the best when you want to transform a look from day to night, with just a pop of colour. In particular, my favourite right now is the Burberry Kisses Gloss in Rosewood No.93.”

6. Hayden Kays

Hayden is a friend of mine and an incredible artist – he gave me an original piece for my 30th birthday. I love it, and it takes pride of place in my bedroom. Check out his art, he’s so talented and a total legend.”
